My name is Matthew Smith. My wife, Ashlee, and myself recently welcomed our first daughter, Madeline, into the world. We are extremely thankful and amazed all at once! We live in Macon, Georgia, where we both grew up.

I am the Director for Marketing Communications at Mercer University. I have a BFA degree in Graphic Design and have been working professionally in the field for almost 7 years. While at Mercer, I’ve had the opportunity to work in many various types of media, including advertisements, logos, invitation sets, newsletters, websites, and more. I work in a fast-paced environment, and always have multiple design jobs open at once. I regularly complete over 200 projects a year, while still maintaining Mercer’s high standard of design.

As well as being a full-time artist for Mercer, I’m also available for freelance work. I’ve completed over 400 designs for Countrywide Promotions, a screen-printing company located in Macon, Georgia, as well as other various companies and individuals.

I have an excellent comprehension of computer hardware and software. I am proficient in applications such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and Distiller. I’m also quite adept at using QuarkXpress, as well as others.

As well as Graphic Design, I’ve always been interested in photography. While at Georgia Southern University, I completed several digital photography courses, which further peaked my interest and knowledge in the subject. While digital photography started out as just a hobby, it has since grown into a vital asset as a professional. At Mercer, I helped spearhead the implementation of digital photography into our marketing department. This created a much more streamlined workflow and saves us valuable time and money.
